The Senate approves the alliance agreement with Kazakhstan

During the plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan held today, November 25, the Law "On Ratification of the Agreement on Union Relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan" was adopted.


During the Senate meeting, it was emphasized that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are not only close neighbors but also time-tested strategic partners. The main objective of the agreement is to fortify the new stage of inter-state relations, aiming to further strengthen the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and stable economic development of both countries, as stated by the Senate.


The agreement encompasses various aspects, including close cooperation in foreign policy, defense and security, migration, development of industrial cooperation, joint measures for the rational use of transboundary water resources, and the enhancement of relations between parliaments, political parties, and public organizations.

Senators expressed the opinion that the ratification of the Agreement will contribute to supporting the spiritual and cultural closeness of the two peoples and reinforcing mutual relations in the fields of culture, science, education, and sports.


Furthermore, the Annex to the Agreement contains the Regulation on the Supreme Interstate Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is headed by the heads of state.
