It becomes clear which countries' leaders will attend the SCO summit in Samarkand

14 Heads of State will participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which will be held in Samarkand on 15-16 September of the current year.  This was reported by president’s spokesman Sherzod Assadov.

According to Asadov, in addition to the leaders of the SCO member states (Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan) the observers: the presidents of Iran, Belarus, and Mongolia, as well as the leaders of Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan as guests will will attend the summit in Samarkand.

“Next week, a meeting of the Council of Heads of States members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held in Samarkand.  This event will be the first face-to-face meeting of SCO leaders since 2019 and will end Uzbekistan’s chairmanship of the organization.

During the Uzbekistan Chairmanship, the main attention will be paid to strengthening trade and economic relations within the organization, developing production cooperation, expansion of transport and communication interdependence, digital transformation, and “green” economy, strengthening the international authority of the SCO”, - Asadov says.
