Uzbekistan and Jordan sign several agreements in Samarkand

Uzbek citizens granted visa-free entry to Jordan

Today, August 26, following the talks held in Samarkand, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan adopted a joint statement on strengthening partnership relations, the President's press service reported.

As part of the visit, 15 bilateral documents were signed. In particular:

1. Agreement on extradition;
2. Agreement on the mutual promotion and protection of investments;
3. Agreement on the establishment of a joint commission;
4. Agreement on the abolition of visa requirements;
5. Agreement on cooperation in higher education and scientific research;
6. Agreement on cooperation in the field of tourism;
7. Protocol on amendments to the intergovernmental agreement on air services;
8. Protocol on online exchange of preliminary information on the movement of goods and vehicles;
9. Agreement on cooperation in the field of agriculture;
10. Agreement on cooperation in plant quarantine and protection;
11. Agreement on cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine;
12. Memorandum on cooperation in standardization, metrology, and conformity assessment;
13. Interagency memoranda of understanding on religious affairs;
14. Practical action plan for the implementation of agreements reached during the State visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

It is worth noting that Abdullah II ibn al-Hussein arrived in Samarkand on a state visit yesterday, August 25. At the Samarkand city airport, the King of Jordan was welcomed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Later, accompanied by President Mirziyoyev, King Abdullah II toured the magnificent historical monuments of the ancient city of Samarkand. In the evening, the leaders also visited the "Eternal City" historical and ethnographic complex at the Samarkand International Tourism Center. On August 26, the main events of the visit began in Samarkand with the official welcoming ceremony of the Jordanian leader.
