Person detained in Samarkand for storing 25.5 kg of marijuana at home

A resident of the Pastdargam district in the Samarkand region was detained for storing 25.5 kilograms of marijuana at home. The State Security Service reported the incident.

According to the report, employees of the Samarkand regional department of the State Security Service carried out a series of operational measures to combat drug trafficking.

During an operation conducted jointly with the regional internal affairs department, the apartment of a citizen born in 1992 and residing in the Urgut district was searched in the presence of witnesses. The inspection revealed 960 grams of opium imported from Tajikistan buried under a tree in the yard. The substance was seized as material evidence.

In another operation carried out together with the Internal Affairs and Customs authorities, the apartment of a citizen born in 1971, residing in the Pastdargam district, was inspected with the participation of witnesses. As a result, 25 kilograms and 520 grams of marijuana were found stored in a barn on the property. The narcotics were seized as material evidence.

Criminal cases have been initiated against both individuals under Part 5 of Article 25,273 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (trafficking in narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances). Preventive measures in the form of arrest have been applied, and investigative actions are ongoing.

Earlier, in the Andijan region, members of a criminal group were detained for importing and selling narcotic drugs from Kyrgyzstan.
