Cyclist dies after being hit by Isuzu and run over by Damas in Samarkand

A cyclist was killed in a traffic accident in the Taylak district of Samarkand region, according to the regional Road Traffic Safety Department.

The incident occurred at around 6:20 p.m. on January 29 on the 12th kilometer of the D-069 highway passing through the Jumabozor mahalla in Taylak district.

A cyclist traveling in the Taylak–Urgut direction was struck by an Isuzu cargo truck moving in the same direction. As a result of the impact, the cyclist fell onto the roadway. A Damas vehicle approaching from behind then ran over the cyclist.

The cyclist died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.

A criminal case has been opened by the Investigation Department of the Taylak District Internal Affairs Department, and preliminary investigative actions are currently underway. Law enforcement agencies have urged all road users to strictly comply with traffic rules.

It is worth noting that earlier reports stated that 2,188 people died in traffic accidents in Uzbekistan in 2025.
