An investigation has been launched into a video circulating on social media showing a 61-year-old grandmother allegedly abusing her seven grandchildren in Samarkand, the Children’s Ombudsman reported.

It was established that a woman identified as B.M., born in 1965 and residing in Samarkand, had subjected seven minors under her guardianship, who are her grandchildren, to physical and psychological abuse.

According to the Ombudsman, the case has been taken under control. To protect the children from violence and ensure their safety, the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued protection orders for them. B.M.’s guardianship over the children was revoked, and the minors were placed in a family-type children’s home.

The Samarkand city Department of Internal Affairs is currently conducting a pre-investigation check into the unlawful actions against the children.

Earlier, a 41-year-old mother was detained in Sergeli district, Tashkent, while allegedly attempting to sell her child for $10,000.
