Speed limits will be reduced to 60 km/h in Samarkand

At the next session of the Council of People's Deputies of the Samarkand region, the proposal to limit the speed of traffic on 12 streets and roads of the region from 70 to 60 km/h was approved. This was reported by the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan.

To ensure traffic safety on highways and streets passing through the territory of the region, a speed reduction to 60 km/h has been approved in the following sections:
— in the range of 40-43 kilometers of the M-37a Samarkand ring road in the city of Samarkand;

— on Afrosiyab, Dahbed, and Gagarin streets;

— on Amir Temur, Samarkand, U. Barnoyev streets in Kattakorgan city;

— Between 57-64 kilometers of highway 4R-47 in the Urgut district;

— between 22-24 kilometers of the 4R-50 "Tailok-Urgut" highway;

— between 0-2 kilometers of the 4K-522 "Urgut-Pochvon-Ustakhana" highway;

— 4R-47 "Bulungur-Urgut M39" highway in the Bulungur district between 0-5 kilometers;

— Between 2-9 kilometers of the A-377 "Samarkand-Ayniy" highway in Tailoq district.

This proposal, approved by the deputies, will be submitted to the republican commission in the field of road safety.

For information, during the past ten months of this year, about 315 thousand traffic violations were registered in the region.  In particular, it became known that 285 traffic accidents were caused by speeding.  As a result of these incidents, 88 people died and 219 people were injured.
