Legal action will be taken against those who killed a pelican – Aziz Abdukhakimov

As we reported earlier, a video showing the barbaric killing of a red-tailed hawk, included in the Red Book, was circulated on social networks.  The Ministry of Natural Resources will take legal action against the person who killed the bird.  Minister Aziz Abduhakimov announced this on his Facebook page.

In a quick event conducted in collaboration with the state inspectors of the Aydar-Arnasoy lake system department of the Ministry of Nature and Resources and internal affairs officers, it was reported that the situation occurred at a lake located in the Arnasoy district of Jizzakh region, and citizen E.D. killed a pelican.  It was found that he caught and killed it with a fishing rod.

In this case, the requirements of the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the protection and use of the animal world” and “On hunting and hunting economy” have been violated.

“Since the pelican is a species included in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the documents collected in order to take legal action against the offender and recover the damage caused to the animal world have been submitted to the relevant prosecutor’s office,” the minister wrote.
