On May 13, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with Kubanichbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), to discuss regional cooperation and preparations for the upcoming Budapest summit. Saidov shared details of the meeting on his social media.

During their conversation, the officials explored ways to strengthen collaboration among OTS member states, implement initiatives proposed by Uzbekistan’s President, and advance joint projects aimed at regional stability and economic growth.

Additionally, they outlined priority areas for future cooperation within the OTS framework and exchanged views on preparations for the next OTS summit in Budapest.

From May 20-22, the leaders of OTS member states will convene in Budapest, Hungary, for an informal summit.

Later this year, the 12th official OTS summit will be held in Azerbaijan, where Northern Cyprus is expected to participate. Turkish parliamentarian Ayucye Turkesh Tosh remarked that this summit could clarify geopolitical tensions in the Turkic world, particularly regarding the opening of Central Asian embassies in Northern Cyprus.

Tosh praised Hungary’s stance on Northern Cyprus within the OTS, while also expressing regret that Northern Cyprus was not invited to the recent regional discussions in Kazakhstan.
