Earlier, it was reported that the winners of the prestigious Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, which promotes peace, social justice, and interfaith harmony in the United Arab Emirates, had been announced. This year’s award was granted for the historic peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as to human rights defender Zarqa Yaftali.

Chairperson of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan and the only representative from Central Asia on the award’s jury, Saida Mirziyoyeva, congratulated the laureates.

“It is a great honor for me to take part in the jury of the Sheikh Zayed International Award for Human Fraternity and to sincerely congratulate the winners of the 2026 award.

The peace agreement reached between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia clearly demonstrates that even long-standing and complex conflicts can be resolved,” Mirziyoyeva said.

She also paid special tribute to Afghan activist Zarqa Yaftali, noting that her many years of work in defending girls’ right to education show how consistent and determined efforts can change individual lives and shape the future of entire communities.

“For me, both peace and girls’ right to education are fundamental values that are inextricably linked to the stability and development of societies,” Saida Mirziyoyeva added.

For reference, the award ceremony will take place on February 4, 2026, marking the UN-designated International Day of Human Fraternity.
