On April 5, Uzbekistan’s Presidential Assistant Saida Mirziyoyeva held a meeting with Ivana Živković, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the UN Development Programme's Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Mirziyoyeva shared this news on her Telegram channel.

According to her, the two parties discussed the prospects of expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNDP, with a particular focus on the sustainable development of Karakalpakstan and the Aral Sea region.

“We had an in-depth exchange of views on issues related to youth, healthcare, culture, and the development of sustainable tourism—important areas that can lay the groundwork for positive and long-term changes. We aim to engage society, especially the younger generation, in the development process, drawing on their energy, creativity, and drive for innovation,” the statement reads.

Mirziyoyeva also expressed satisfaction with the alignment of both parties’ visions with UNDP’s goals. She voiced confidence that through joint efforts, ideas could be transformed into tangible projects that deliver significant benefits to people on the ground.

It is worth noting that the first Aral Culture Summit, planned to be held every 18 months, recently began in Nukus, the capital of Karakalpakstan. Saida Mirziyoyeva delivered a speech during the summit emphasizing the priority of developing the Aral Sea region and Karakalpakstan.
