The number of Uzbek citizens currently working temporarily in Russia stands at nearly 1.3 million, according to Rahim Hakimov, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
It was reported that more than 100,000 Uzbek citizens were employed in Russia in 2025. According to the figures, nearly 50,000 of them were placed in jobs at major companies, including Gazprom, Lukoil, KamAZ, AvtoVAZ, Ozon and SPAR.
Under agreements reached between Russia and Uzbekistan in 2025, the possibility of moving some stages of the labor patent application process to Uzbekistan is being considered. In addition, the practice of preparing workers before their departure to Russia may be expanded.
Uzbekistan has also proposed expanding the Russian language testing system and opening additional centers.
It is worth noting that earlier, reports said family members of labor migrants could be barred from accompanying them to Russia.
