Uzbek worker dies after falling from sixth floor in Russia

On May 23, a 28-year-old Uzbek worker died after falling from the sixth floor of a building in St. Petersburg, Russia, according to Peterburg2.ru.
The incident occurred while the worker was repairing the roof of a multi-storey building on Kolomenskaya Street. The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case regarding the accident.
Preliminary information indicates that the worker fell from the roof of the six-storey building. Investigators stated that the contractor failed to comply with safety regulations, as the worker was performing the job at height without safety equipment or protective barriers.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which concerns causing death through violation of safety rules during construction work.
As part of the case, a suspect has been charged and a preventive measure imposed. Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate all circumstances, including possible negligence by officials.
Earlier, the body of a 46-year-old Uzbek man was found near a cultural cluster under construction in the center of Kemerovo, Russia.
