On June 8, Russian security forces conducted a raid targeting labor migrants at a facility affiliated with the Ministry of Defense in Moscow. The incident was reported by the Telegram channel "Baza".
According to the report, OMON officers arrived at a dormitory in the Strogino district to check the documents of migrant workers. Eyewitness accounts cited by "Baza" claim that officers forcibly removed men from their rooms and physically assaulted those who did not move quickly, allegedly kicking and slapping some individuals.
During the operation, security personnel reportedly detained five to six people due to issues with their documentation. The detainees were taken to a police department for further investigation.
The Representative Office of the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation responded to the situation, stating that it is awaiting official information from Russian law enforcement agencies. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Moscow and the Migration Agency’s Representative Office are said to be closely monitoring the incident.
“If any citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan were injured, had their rights violated, or faced other issues during this incident, they are urged to contact the Representative Office of the Migration Agency in the Russian Federation,” the statement said.

It is worth noting that earlier, Sherzodkhon Kudratkhodja, Rector of the University of Journalism and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan, commented on the broader issue. He emphasized that while Uzbekistan's growing population, rising by nearly 1 million annually, often leads to labor migration, the country should consider alternatives to sending its workforce to Russia.
