With the assistance of Uzbekistan Consulate officials, a mother and her three children—victims of domestic violence in Surgut, Russia—have been repatriated to Uzbekistan. This was reported by the “Dunyo” news agency.

According to information obtained from the Consulate, on May 15 of this year, I.M. sought practical assistance at the Consulate after enduring severe pressure and abuse from her spouse, Q.M., which forced her to request help in being sent to her permanent place of residence.

This family arrived in Surgut, Russia, in May 2024 along with two underage children, while the family’s third child was born in that city.

The victim’s spouse had been working at various locations in Russia without obtaining the necessary documents required for legal status. Due to shortcomings within the family—namely the lack of a permanent job and steady income—conflicts arose, and the mother, having grown weary of the constant disputes, decided to return to Uzbekistan with her children. Upon learning of this decision, the father seized their passports.

Diplomats intervened in the matter by retrieving the documents for the spouse and the children from Q.M. and transporting them to Yekaterinburg. In addition, a repatriation certificate was issued for I.M.’s third child, who was born in Russia.

Tickets for the May 19 flight on the “Yekaterinburg–Namangan” route have been purchased for I.M. and her three children, and their return to Uzbekistan has been arranged.

It should be recalled that previously, with the assistance of Uzbekistan Consulate officials, Uzbek citizens who had been stranded in difficult circumstances in Yekaterinburg, Russia, were repatriated to their permanent place of residence.
