12238Fifteen Uzbek nationals were apprehended during raids targeting illegal migration in the Russian city of Odintsovo. This information was reported by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia.
It was noted that videos depicting the unlawful detention of 15 Uzbek citizens for more than four days at the 5th police station in the Odintsovo district of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs were circulating on social media.
To investigate the matter, on August 8, representatives from the consular department of the Uzbek Embassy visited the police station in the district. Their investigation confirmed that the Uzbek nationals were arrested by officers from the country's internal affairs department during a raid conducted in the Odintsovo city district.
"The aforementioned Uzbek citizens were illegally employed in the Moscow region without obtaining the necessary permits," the report stated.
On August 9, these individuals were transferred to the temporary detention center for foreign nationals under the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Moscow Region, pending their deportation from Russia.
The embassy has urged those planning to travel to Russia, as well as citizens currently residing in the country for work, to strictly adhere to the local laws and regulations.
It should be recalled that a previous report indicated that 45 Uzbek nationals working in Russia were detained by the country's security forces. Among them, 12 were taken to a police station for document verification. Eleven individuals faced administrative fines for having expired work permits and were granted temporary residency on the same day. However, one individual was deported for working without any documentation.
