According to the website of "Rosatom", "Rosatom" and "Ozatom" are finalizing the agreement to construct Uzbekistan's inaugural nuclear power plant.

The NPP project involves building two power units equipped with VVER-1200-type reactors.

These reactors, classified as belonging to the "3+" generation, adhere to the highest international safety and efficiency standards.

"Rosatom", the state corporation, has been chosen as the contractor for Uzbekistan's first nuclear power plant.

"The selection of the Tuzkon Lake area in the Jizzakh region was based on engineering studies confirming its suitability for the facility's location," the report stated.

The first power unit is slated for commissioning in 2030, followed by the second unit in 2033, with the project's initial cost estimated at $11 billion.

A cooperation agreement between Uzbekistan and Russia was signed in December 2017, outlining the station's construction, albeit facing delays in completion since then.

Subsequent to 2017, Uzbekistan established the "Ozatom" Atomic Energy Development Agency.
