Officially: a new Minister of Defense was appointed

Shukhrat Gayratjonovich Kholmukhammedov has been appointed Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This announcement was made by Presidential Spokesperson Sherzod Asadov.
According to the statement, by a decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shukhrat Gayratjonovich Kholmukhammedov was relieved of his duties as First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and appointed as the Minister of Defense.
Additionally, Bakhodir Nizomovich Kurbanov was relieved of his post as Minister of Defense and appointed Chairman of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
For reference, Shukhrat Gayratjonovich Kholmukhammedov was awarded the military rank of Major General by Presidential Decree on March 23, 2021. He has previously held positions including Deputy Minister of Defense, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President, and Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations. In 2016, he was awarded the medal "For Faithful Services."
It is worth noting that on November 23, QALAMPIR.UZ reported that Shukhrat Gayratjonovich Kholmukhammedov would be appointed Minister of Defense.
