The mayor (khokim) of Tashkent Jahongir Artikkhodjaev, resigned from the deputy of the Tashkent city council before the deadline.  The relevant decision has been adopted by the city council on 27 January.  This was reported to QALAMPIR.UZ by a source.

According to the legislation established, the senator and council deputy have the right to immunity during their term of office.

In January 2020, Jahongir Artikkhodjaev was elected as a council deputy from the 48th electoral district of the UzLiDeP party ("Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party"), and then a senator for a five-year term.  His term of office runs until January 2025.

It should be recalled that on 16 January of the current year, at the meeting on the supply of energy resources held in the participation of the President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that he fired the former mayor of Tashkent Jahongir Artikkhodjaev.  The President said that Artikkhodjaev had not adequately prepared for winter conditions despite the urgent warnings.

Bakhtiyor Rahmanov, who had been working as his first deputy mayor, was appointed to the post of the acting mayor (khokim) of Tashkent city instead of Artikkhodjaev.
