Electricity and gas tariffs will not change from 1 July of the current year.  The decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on this issue is under revision.  This is reported by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

“We would like to inform you that the working group is studying the draft decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On change of prices for fuel and energy resources” which is currently under public discussion.

Within the framework of the project, more than 1,000 applications were received from citizens.  Experts from the Ministries of Energy, Finance, Economic Development, and Poverty Reduction are studying and analyzing the applications,” the report says.

It is noted that a final and appropriate decision on this issue will be taken after all opinions and expert opinions on the adopted proposals are provided.

According to the adopted normative-legal legislation acts, the change of tariffs will enter into force after 15 days from the date of issuance of the decision of the government.

It should be recalled that a draft decision of the Cabinet of Ministers “On change of prices for fuel and energy resources” was posted on the portal for discussion of draft normative-legal legislation acts on 31 May of the current year.  The decision proposes to introduce a "social norm" for gas and electricity and increased prices for gas and electricity in Uzbekistan from 1 July 2022.

The draft decision sets a "social norm" of up to 250kWh per month for electricity from 1 July 2022.  Also, 1kW costs 325 soms.  It is said that for every 1kWh of electricity consumed in excess of the norm - 650 soms are paid.

It was noted that the procedure for natural gas will be determined by taking into account the heating season.  In particular, for the population:

• consumption of 1 cubic meter of natural gas per month during the heating season up to 700 cubic meters - 410 soms per, for every 1 cubic meter above 700 cubic meters - 1,200 soms;

• in the off-heating season period up to 200 cubic meters - 410 soms, for every 1 cubic meter above 200 cubic meters - 1,200 soms;

• Liquefied gas was set at 1,600 soms for the population.
