Raisi will pay a visit to Uzbekistan for the first time

At the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan from 14-16 September.  This is reported by the press service under the president’s administration of Uzbekistan.

It is noted that high-level Uzbek-Iranian talks and other events within the framework of the visit will be held in Samarkand.

The leaders of the two countries will consider the issues of further development and strengthening of multilateral relations, paying special attention to the expansion of practical cooperation in trade and business, innovation, transport, energy, tourism, and other spheres.

Following the meeting, it is planned to sign a number of joint documents.

From 15-16 September, President Ebrahim Raisi will participate in the events of the SCO Samarkand Summit.

For reference, Ebrahim Raisi has been president of the Islamic Republic of Iran since August 2021.  This is his first visit to Uzbekistan.

Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Ebrahim Raisi had previously met in Dushanbe in September 2021.
