The president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin awarded the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Order of Alexander Nevsky.  The relevant decree is posted on the legal information portal.

It was reported that Mirziyoyev was awarded for his outstanding services in strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan.

For reference, the Order of Alexander Nevsky is the only award that exists in the award systems of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, and the Russian Federation (with certain modifications).  The Order of Saint Alexander Nevsky existed in the Russian Empire from 1725 to 1917, and the Order of Alexander Nevsky existed in the USSR from 1942 to 1991.  After the collapse of the Union in 1991, the Russian President retained the award system in the USSR.

Citizens of the Russian Federation who hold positions in state service with the Order of Alexander Nevsky for special personal services to the Motherland in state building, many years of conscientious service and high results achieved in the performance of official duties, strengthening the international prestige of Russia, the country's defense capabilities and economic development, science, education, culture, art, healthcare, and other services, as well as citizens of the Russian Federation, are awarded for high personal achievements in economic  and scientific research, socio-cultural, educational and other socially beneficial activities.

With the Order of Alexander Nevsky, military-medical organizations can be awarded for their high achievements in the field of health care for military personnel.

In addition, well-known foreign political and public figures, and representatives of business circles of foreign countries can be awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky for their services to the development of multilateral cooperation with the Russian Federation and its socio-economic development.

It should be recalled that tomorrow 24 July, the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will turn 65 years old.
