President gifts a car to World champion

On October 26, an award ceremony was held at the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan to honor the winners and medalists of the Weightlifting World Championships held in Norway, the Committee’s press service reported.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic Committee, and the Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan. At the ceremony, Akbar Juraev, who claimed three gold medals and became the absolute world champion in the -110 kg weight category, was awarded a presidential gift, a BYD car, and a one-time cash prize in accordance with a government resolution.

In addition, Ruslan Nuriddinov, who won two bronze medals in the same championship, along with the coaches of other athletes, received cash awards.

It is worth noting that at the 2025 Weightlifting World Championships held in Norway, Uzbekistan ranked fifth in the overall team standings, alongside China and South Korea.
