Discounted food fairs will be held at farmers’ markets and major shopping complexes across Uzbekistan ahead of the upcoming Ramadan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at a meeting on February 13 focused on ensuring high economic growth across sectors and regions.

According to the announcement, the Center for Sectoral Markets and Labor Productivity under the Ministry of Economy and Finance has been tasked with identifying domestic and external inflation risks in advance and developing practical solutions.

Two representatives from the center will work in each regional office of the ministry. The center will analyze markets in districts and cities on a weekly basis, assessing current demand for products and forecasting how demand may change in one month, three months, and one year.

A quarterly balance of key food products will be prepared to determine how much of the demand can be met by existing production capacity and storage reserves, and how any shortages will be addressed.

“Starting next week, the holy month of Ramadan will begin. During these sacred days, symbolizing generosity, compassion, and gratitude, ensuring price stability in domestic markets is more important than ever,” the president said.

He also instructed officials to begin organizing discounted food fairs at farmers’ markets and major shopping centers.

Reports from sectoral and regional leaders were heard during the meeting.
