The president responds to people’s concerns about the currency

Uzbekistan has enough reserves to prevent sharp fluctuations in the currency market. This was stated by the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev today, 31 March, at a video-conference devoted to macroeconomic stability, the development of regions and industries in connection with the difficult situation in the world economy, improving the well-being of the population.

At the meeting, the Heads of State have spoken about the measures taken to stabilize the currency market, and stated that the currency market and the exchange rate have stabilized, the exchange trading have begun with ruble and yuan.

"Our people shouldn’t worry too much about that. We have enough reserves to prevent sharp fluctuations in the currency market,"- the president said.

The Central Bank has also been tasked to continue to pursue a prudent, convincing and stable monetary policy.

Now regional leaders of the Central Bank meet every day with entrepreneurs to explain the situation in the foreign exchange market, the implementation of export and import settlements and new credit mechanisms.

It is noted that international experts predict that the current difficult situation in the world economy will remain for a long time. For example, during the last month, international prices for wheat increased by 36%, for sugar – by 10%, and for vegetable oil – the price doubled.
