President is in Nurafshan.  A governor is expected to be appointed to the Tashkent region

Today 21 September, a session of the council of people’s MPs of the Tashkent region is taking place in Nurafshan.  It will also be attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

At the beginning of his speech, the Head of State expressed his deep respect and best wishes to the hard-working, tolerant, and multi-ethnic people of the capital region, who are making a significant contribution to the development of the economy.

It was noted that the Tashkent region is characterized by natural and mineral resources, industrial and transport and logistics potential, stable energy supply, and qualified human resources.

"Using all available opportunities, the attraction of additional investments in the region, development of entrepreneurship, an increase of the number of new enterprises and jobs, improvement of infrastructure, solution of demographic problems will always be the focus of our attention"- the President says.

The organizational issue of appointing a governor (khokim) of the Tashkent region(oblast) is being considered at the meeting.

The President recommended Mirzayev Zoyir Toirovich, who has been holding the post of the acting governor of the Tashkent region since November 2021, to the post of governor of the region.

Prior to the discussion of the candidate, it was proposed to give a turn to the candidate and to listen to his plans for further rapid development of the region, creation of decent living conditions for the population, and solution of existing problems, based on his long experience.
