5434On June 20, a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the comprehensive development of the Kashkadarya region focused on urgent road and infrastructure improvements.
It was noted that the reconstruction of 100 kilometers of the “Guzor–Bukhara–Nukus–Beyneu” highway passing through the region will triple Kashkadarya’s transit capacity. The inclusion of the remaining 13 kilometers of the new bypass road in Karshi is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, a growing concern among residents. Authorities were instructed to begin practical work on these projects starting next year.
The President also ordered the reconstruction of the 106th kilometer of the “Karshi–Shahrisabz–Kitob” highway, expanding it to four lanes. Additionally, a new 34-kilometer bypass road will be built around the district centers of Kamashi and Yakkabag.
It was emphasized that at least one million trees should be planted along both sides of the 106-kilometer highway to create a “green belt.”
In addition, 60 kilometers of the “Tashkent–Termez” highway that passes through Kashkadarya will be expanded to four lanes and covered with cement-concrete. Of this, 20 kilometers are scheduled to be completed this year.
The region currently has 3,000 kilometers of unpaved roads. The government has ordered that these be fully covered with gravel. A separate order was issued for the complete repair of nine bridges across the region.
