A Climate Council will be established under the President of Uzbekistan, according to a newly adopted presidential decree.

The decree establishes the Climate Council as the highest advisory body to the President, tasked with addressing the impacts of climate change and developing strategies for adaptation.

Among its primary responsibilities, the Climate Council will oversee the implementation of Uzbekistan's commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement.

Additionally, the National Center for Green Transformation and Adaptation to Climate Change will be renamed the National Center for Climate Change (Climate Center), as stipulated in the decree.

To enhance scientific and academic capabilities and promote fundamental research, the Climate Science Forum (Climate Residence) will be established at the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University).
