4975In 2024, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan filed lawsuits to revoke the licenses of five non-governmental higher education institutions. This action followed an investigation into the activities of 26 non-state universities, revealing various shortcomings and violations.
The Ministry reported that, as a result of their study, several non-governmental higher education institutions were found to have significant deficiencies. A one-month period was given to these organizations to rectify the issues. However, lawsuits were filed against those that failed to address the deficiencies within the specified time frame.
As of 2024, the Ministry sought to revoke the licenses of five non-state higher education organizations through legal action. During the court proceedings, one university's license was successfully revoked. However, in four cases, the courts dismissed the Ministry's claims, allowing those universities to continue operating. In contrast, six universities had their licenses revoked in 2023.
Previously, applicants had also sued the Agency for Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, claiming that the law exam in July contained questions based on information not available in the standard textbooks, including specific codes and laws.
