4660In Uzbekistan, 414 people were poisoned by food in the eighth month of 2023. Nurmat Otabekov, deputy head of the sanitary-epidemiological peace and public health service, informed about this on September 21.
Over the past eight months, 39 cases of foodborne illness have been reported. As a result, 414 citizens were injured, 2 of them died. 86 of those poisoned are children. Among them, botulism was recorded in 81 patients.
"Domestic, i.e. group disease in home conditions occurs due to non-observance of sanitary rules and storage procedures in the preparation of salads. We are more concerned about such cases in preschool educational organizations. On July 13, 12 people died in kindergarten No. 600 in Sergeli district, and 27 people in kindergarten No. 10 in Angren city. Cases of group food poisoning of children were registered," said Nurmat Otabekov.
According to him, the observation of such cases in preschool educational institutions is related, first of all, to the fact that the kitchens are not built according to the project, they operate contrary to sanitary requirements, and there are problems with the supply of hot and cold water. One of the main reasons is that the equipment used in these kitchens is outdated, and those who prepare food for children are unprofessional and not trained in sanitary standards.
It should be noted that earlier we reported that about 60 people were poisoned by food in Jizzakh.
