Tajimuratov, accused of the Nukus incidents, was sentenced to 16 years in prison

9573Today, on 31 January in Bukhara, a trial was held and a verdict was announced regarding the criminal case against 22 defendants who were accused of having committed public disturbances in the city of Nukus on 1-2 July, 2022. This was reported by the Press Service of the Supreme Court.
It is noted that this criminal case was decided by Ye. It was considered in the court of first instance chaired by Abibullayev.
According to the court verdict, Davletmurat Tajimuratov was sentenced to imprisonment for 16 years.
It is part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code, article 167 (embezzlement or robbery by means of fraud), part 3, clause “a”, article 243 (legalization of proceeds from criminal activities), article 244 Part 3 and Article 244-1, Part 3, paragraphs “a”, “b”, “g” were found guilty of committing crimes. In accordance with Article 59 of the Criminal Code, he was sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment, the first 2 years of the sentence were to be spent in prison, and the rest in a strict colony.
It is also planned to further expand the powers of the Ombudsman for the prevention of torture, and strengthen public control in this regard.
Accordingly, the Independent Commission established by the Ombudsman carefully monitored the investigation and court proceedings against the persons involved in the “Korakalpak events”.
As a result of the commission’s “monitoring visits” to pretrial detention centers and prisons, together with representatives of the public, 107 defendants were sentenced to prison.
During the investigation and court proceedings, the Independent Commission studied each case based on the requests of representatives of international organizations and diplomatic missions.
