3 law enforcement officials were arrested in connection with the Nukus incidents

A criminal case was initiated in connection with the illegal actions of 3 law enforcement officers in connection with the events of Nukus, which took place on 1-2 July 2022.  This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office

It is noted that, as part of the investigation, they were charged with the relevant articles of the Criminal Code and imprisoned.

“Criminal investigations are currently ongoing.  As a result, criminal cases will be sent to court,” the report said.

We remind you that on 31 January this year, a trial was held in Bukhara on the criminal case against 22 defendants who were accused of causing mass disturbances in the city of Nukus in July 2022, and a verdict was announced.  According to the court verdict, Davletmurat Tajimuratov was deprived of freedom for 16 years.  In addition, Lolagul Kallikhonova was given a conditional sentence with a probation period of 3 years, and she was released from prison in the courtroom.

Polat Shamshetov, the former head of the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Karakalpakstan, a participant in mass riots, died on 4 February this year in the investigative detention center No. 4 of the Penitentiary Department.
