12,709 hectares of pasture land can be transferred to Kyrgyzstan from the Govasoy site in the Pop and Chust districts of the Namangan region.  This paragraph reflects "On the ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic on separate sections of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz State border (Bishkek, November 3, 2022)" and "On bills on the ratification of the Agreement between the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on the joint management of water resources of the Andijan (Kampirabad) reservoir (Bishkek, November 3, 2022.)  Today, 14 November, it is being considered by the deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

Abdulla Aripov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who is participating in the meeting, explained the contract signed by him.  According to him, during the time of the former Soviet Union, Uzbekistan was obliged to build the left bank channel of the Kampirabad or Andijan reservoir of the USSR, but it was not done.

"During the construction of the reservoir during the time of the former Union, Uzbekistan undertook to build the left bank channel of the Kampirabad or Andijan reservoir.  However, due to various reasons, this channel was not built.  As this obligation was not fulfilled, the Kyrgyz side did not develop a large amount - more than 8 thousand hectares of land in the Burgandar massif for many years.  They emphasized that this hurt the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic.

"It is proposed to transfer 12,709 hectares of pasture land from the Govasoy section in Pop and Chust districts of Namangan region to Kyrgyzstan to compensate for the unused land due to the lack of construction of the canal," said Aripov.

It should be recalled that according to the contract being adopted with the draft law under consideration, Uzbekistan is proposing to allocate 1019 hectares of pasture land from the Poshakhor section of the Kurgantepa district of the Andijan region in exchange for the Kampiabad reservoir, which occupies an area of 4957 hectares.
