On July 23 of this year, two schoolchildren drowned in the North Fergana Canal near Mirishkor Primary School in the Namangan district. The Regional Department for Emergency Situations reported the incident.
According to the report, search efforts are still underway for one of the victims—a minor born in 2009—who lived near the Mirishkor Primary School. One of the children’s bodies was recovered on July 25.
“Currently, surface search operations are being carried out by fire and rescue teams from the Namangan, Chust, and Pop district emergency departments, while underwater operations are being conducted by divers from the fire rescue squad,” the statement said.
It should be recalled that earlier, three members of a family drowned in Lake Akchakul, located between the Ellikkal’a and Beruni districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
