Man detained in Namangan for smuggling 9 kg of hashish across the border (video)

In the Namangan region, individuals who illegally brought 9 kilograms and 702 grams of hashish and powerful pharmaceutical drugs worth more than 3.2 billion soums from the Kyrgyz Republic through bypass routes were detained. The State Security Service reported the incident.

Employees of the Namangan regional department of the State Security Service, in cooperation with the Border Troops, the regional Internal Affairs Directorate, and the Customs Department, conducted an urgent operation. A 1975-born resident of Uchkurgan district was stopped while illegally entering Uzbekistan from the Kyrgyz Republic through the section of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz state border passing through the Yangi-Yer neighborhood in Uychi district.

During the inspection, authorities discovered 9 kilograms and 702 grams of hashish in the suspect’s bag, which was formally documented as evidence.

A criminal case has been opened against the individual under Article 223, part 1 (Illegal exit from or entry into the territory of Uzbekistan) and Article 246, part 2 (Smuggling) of the Criminal Code. The suspect has been placed in pre-trial detention.

In a separate case, a 1990-born resident of Namangan city was detained while attempting to receive a shipment of strong pharmaceutical drugs and counterfeit medicines illegally transported from the Kyrgyz Republic via bypass routes into the Yangiqurgon district. The seized items included 24,122 tablets of Regapen, 4,880 tablets of Tropicamide, and a total of 61,287 units of 45 different types of counterfeit drugs, with an estimated value exceeding 3.2 billion soums.

Following the arrest, authorities continued investigative measures to identify the individuals who ordered the drugs and the couriers involved. As a result, five people residing in Namangan city and the Kosonsoy district were identified. It was confirmed that they were involved in selling strong pharmaceutical drugs and counterfeit medicines in Tashkent city and the Fergana Valley regions.

Criminal cases have been opened against these individuals, and investigative actions are ongoing.

Earlier, three people were arrested in Syrdarya for operating a narcotics laboratory.
