Former mayor of Namangan passes away

Akmalkhon Ikromov, who served as Namangan city mayor in the early years of Uzbekistan’s independence, passed away at the age of 76, the Namangan regional administration reported.

Akmalkhon Ikromov was born in 1949 in Namangan city. From 1966 to 1973, he studied at the Central Asian Institute of Light Industry and Textiles, graduating with honors as a mechanical engineer. He subsequently held various positions in the regional local industry administration for many years, serving as branch director at the Kosonsoy Silk weaving factory and director of the Namangan City public consumer goods factory.

From 1992 to 1994, Ikromov served as the mayor of Namangan city. Since 2009, he has been actively serving as the chairman of the supervisory board of “Olmos-Khim” LLC in Namangan.

"Throughout his career, Akmalkhon Ikromov made significant contributions to the development of local industry and, during his tenure as mayor, to the beautification of the regional center. His bright memory will forever remain in our hearts. We extend our deepest condolences to his relatives and family members", the statement said.

It is worth noting that Yazdurdi Safarov, who had led the Mirishkor district in Kashkadarya region, passed away at the age of 80 on July 4 of this year, while Orif To‘xtameshov, who served as the head of Nishon district for six years, died at the age of 62.
