The territory of Namangan city will be expanded

The land will be annexed to the city of Namangan from the border Turakurgan district.  This is stated in the draft decision of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) “On changing the borders of the Turakurgan district of the Namangan region and Davlatabad district of the city of Namangan, as well as the city of Namangan”.

For the transformation of Namangan into a “city with a population of one million” the draft decision suggests adding 472.4 hectares of land from the border of the Turakurgan district, and a modern business center and residential complex “New Namangan town” will be created in the district.

It is noted that as a result of the adoption of this decision, in order to provide the population with decent jobs in the city’s trade and consumer facilities, as well as in 4 small industrial zones with an area of 164.2 hectares, more than 41 thousand new jobs will be created.

According to the analysis, “cities with populations over one million” have a higher level of economic growth than any other city, and per capita income grows faster.

Diversification of economic sectors will increase, and it will be possible to organize sectoral clusters.  Especially those cities are the driver of GDP growth of the country.  The draft decision was adopted at the meeting.
