Today, October 2, at 16:00, a court hearing was scheduled at the Uchtepa district criminal court in the case of religious scholar and blogger Mubashshir Ahmad (Alisher Tursunov), founder of the ’’Azon Global’’ information-analytical portal. However, the session was once again postponed. This was reported to QALAMPIR.UZ by Aziz Obidov, press secretary of the Supreme Court.

According to him, the hearing has been rescheduled for October 8 at 16:00. The postponement was due to the judge overseeing Mubashshir Ahmad’s case being on medical leave.

It should be noted that this is not the first time the hearings in Tursunov’s case have been adjourned. The first court session, held on August 19, was postponed to September 8 because several witnesses failed to appear. At the second hearing, the witnesses who did attend could not provide sufficient evidence to support the charges, leading the court to adjourn the case until September 15. In addition, the session that was to be held on September 29 has also been postponed to today, October 2.

A criminal case has been initiated against Alisher Tursunov under Article 244-1 of the Criminal Code (production, storage, distribution, or display of materials threatening public security and public order) and Article 244-3 (illegal production, storage, import, or distribution of religious materials). A preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied to him.

It is worth noting that the previous hearing in Mubashshir Ahmad’s case was held on September 18 this year. During that session, the state prosecutor requested a seven-year prison sentence for him.
