5056Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Russia's President Vladimir Putin have agreed to enhance their cooperation in combating the spread of misinformation in the media. This agreement is outlined in a joint statement following Putin's state visit to Uzbekistan.
"The parties have agreed to deepen cooperation in the information sector to ensure impartial and comprehensive coverage of issues about the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan. They aim to counteract the spread of false information, particularly that which disrupts inter-ethnic harmony, and to highlight the positive aspects of their shared interests. This cooperation is seen as a way to strengthen bilateral relations," the statement declares.
The statement underscores the significance of improving coordination on international platforms to promote global information standards. Both leaders advocate for the development of universal norms for responsible state behavior in the information space, under the auspices of the UN. Additionally, Putin and Mirziyoyev are committed to making internet governance more democratic and transparent, while safeguarding the security of national internet segments.
The statement also highlights the high level of inter-parliamentary relations and the effectiveness of cooperative mechanisms established by the legislators of both countries. Emphasis is placed on coordination in law-making and political, legal, and socio-economic reforms.
