Despite the difficult situation in Afghanistan, there is significant progress on the "Termiz-Mazari-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar" railway project.  This is reported by the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Yesterday, 16 December, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was informed about the current status of major international projects in the railway sector and plans.

The country needs to diversify its transport routes and quickly and freely enter the world markets. Therefore, the head of our state always raises this issue at international conferences and puts forward practical initiatives. "Finding a common ground" with neighboring and interested countries, projects are being accelerated.

One of them is the construction of the 454-kilometer "Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China" railway.  It is known that on 14 September of this year, a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding on this project was signed in Samarkand.  In November, field research was conducted by China's First Design Research Institute.

During the report, it was also mentioned about the planned works.  In particular, a project office will be established in Bishkek.  A project management style and the procedure was discussed. Negotiations will be held with international financial organizations.  In general, it is planned to prepare the feasibility study of the project by 1 June.

Another regional project in the field is the "Termiz - Mazari-Sharif - Kabul - Peshawar" railway. In particular, in the summer of this year, a research expedition was conducted from the city of Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan to the city of Torkham in Pakistan.

As mentioned, the construction of 765 kilometers of the railway is planned within the framework of the project.  Next year, it is planned to establish a project office, attract an international consulting company, and hold negotiations with investors.  Based on these, the technical and economic basis of the project is prepared.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved these plans and gave instructions on developing "Road maps" with partner countries.

The construction of these two railways will diversify Uzbekistan's transport communications and expand logistics possibilities.
