Former Minister of Internal Affairs and current adviser to the Ministry since 2018, Zakirjon Almatov, has been honored with the title of "Honored Youth Coach of the Republic of Uzbekistan." The relevant decree was signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today, October 24.

Zakirjon Almatov was born on October 10, 1949, and began his career in 1971. He graduated from Tashkent State Law University in 1976. Between 1990 and 1991, he served as the head of the Internal Affairs Department in the Tashkent region.

On September 16, 1991, Almatov was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan. He was awarded several military titles, including Major General in 1992, Lieutenant General in 1996, and Colonel General in 1999.

In 2005, Almatov encountered health issues that required surgery which led him to resign from his post voluntarily. Despite stepping down, he had previously been awarded the Order of "Honor" for his bravery during the 1999 events and received the Order of "Merit" upon his retirement.

After spending 12 years away from the Ministry, Almatov returned to service in 2018 when President Mirziyoyev appointed him as an adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs.
