Mirziyoyev also holds phone talks with Japarov

Today, March 18, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, the presidential press service reported.  

During the call, the leaders sincerely congratulated each other on the upcoming holiday of Navruz, a celebration of spring and renewal, and wished peace, stability, and prosperity to their fraternal nations.  

They discussed the implementation of high-level agreements, with a focus on trade, industrial cooperation, logistics, energy, agriculture, tourism, and other priority sectors of mutual interest.  

The two presidents emphasized the need to accelerate major regional projects aimed at developing transport, transit, and energy infrastructure.  

Additionally, Mirziyoyev and Japarov paid special attention to preparations for the upcoming trilateral high-level meeting, as well as the Central Asia-European Union summit and the Climate Forum, both set to take place in Samarkand.  

Notably, on the same day, March 18, President Mirziyoyev also held telephone conversations with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.  

For reference, the Central Asia-European Union summit will be held in Samarkand on April 3–4. European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are expected to attend. The summit, chaired by President Mirziyoyev, will bring together the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.  

On April 4–5, the first Samarkand Climate Forum will take place at the Silk Road Samarkand Congress Center, with the participation of Central Asian heads of state, European Union representatives, the United Nations, international financial institutions, and leading environmental organizations.
