Mirziyoyev discussed cooperation in three directions with the Secretary General of the OSCE

4594Today 17 November, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Helga Schmid.
Issues of further development of cooperation with the OSCE in all three directions of this organization's activities - economic, political, and humanitarian - were discussed.
Later, it was noted with satisfaction that relations were activated, and open and constructive dialogue was developing.
This year, which marks the 30th anniversary of cooperation, the current chairman of the OSCE Zbigniew Rau, and the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities Kairat Abdurahmanov visited Uzbekistan. Effective cooperation is being carried out with the Bureau of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the Parliamentary Assembly, and the OSCE representative on media freedom.
Joint projects on the development of digital skills among young people and within the framework of the strategy to combat terrorism and extremism until 2026 are being implemented.
During the conversation, it was emphasized that the expert support of OSCE structures plays an important role, especially in the issues of the continuation of democratic reforms and the development of civil society institutions in Uzbekistan.
It was noted the need to strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy and ecology, to implement joint projects in the fields of "green" economy, digitization, small business, and ecology.
While discussing current issues of regional and international security, special attention was paid to the situation in neighboring Afghanistan. It was agreed to implement joint projects aimed at providing the important humanitarian needs of the Afghan people.
