Mirziyoyev invited the President of Hungary to Uzbekistan

Today 4 October, a meeting between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Hungary Katalin Novak took place at the Shandor Palace in Budapest.

At the beginning of the meeting, the leader of Uzbekistan left a note in the book of honored guests, then the leaders took a picture together.

The presidents exchanged views on further expansion of the multifaceted strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Hungary.

It was noted that ancient historical ties, common values, and similar mentality of people serve as a foundation for strengthening friendly relations.  Orientalists such as Arminius Vamberi and Ishak Ibragim have made a great contribution to the study of historical ties and rich cultural heritage.

It was noted with satisfaction that bilateral cooperation is rapidly developing, political dialogue is deepening, mutual assistance is continuing, and inter-parliamentary and public relations are expanding.

It was noted that the development of trade-economic and investment cooperation is a priority.  It was noted that the volume of trade increased almost three times in the following years.

The Uzbek-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and the Uzbek-Hungarian Business Council, which held its second meeting in Budapest on 3 October, play an important role in activating the work in this regard.

The parties noted that the accession of Uzbekistan to the GSP+ system of preferences of the European Union opens up new opportunities for the significant increase and diversification of mutual trade.

The cultural and humanitarian sphere has a special place in the development of Uzbekistan-Hungary cooperation.  It was emphasized that the government of Hungary has decided to increase the annual quota for Uzbek students and doctoral students to 170 within the framework of the "Hungaricum" program.

The expediency of holding the second forum of rectors of higher education institutions of Uzbekistan and Hungary was shown.

The heads of state also exchanged views on current issues of international and regional importance and discussed the issues of continuing active dialogue and mutual assistance within the framework of multilateral structures.

At the end of the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan invited the President of Hungary to visit Uzbekistan at a convenient time.
