Mirziyoyev met with Tokayev

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, held a small-scale negotiation.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of Uzbekistan sincerely congratulated his Kazakh counterpart and the multi-ethnic people of Kazakhstan on the Independence Day celebrated on 16 December.

The leaders expressed confidence that these negotiations will give a new strong momentum to the development of Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan strategic partnership and alliance relations.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that Kazakhstan is the closest and most reliable partner of Uzbekistan.

"The Uzbek and Kazakh peoples are not only close neighbors, but also brothers and sisters connected by common historical heritage, cultural and spiritual values.  This is our priceless asset, which we value and will continue to value.  Our fate is the same, our future is common, I believe in it", said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It is noted that the main topic of the negotiations was the fundamental expansion of relations in political, trade-economic, energy, agriculture, water, and other spheres.

It was noted that in the next six years, significant successes were achieved in all areas of cooperation.  Dialogues between the governments, ministries, and departments, regions of the two countries have become regular.

The heads of state noted with satisfaction that the volume of mutual trade, which has reached nearly 5 billion dollars, is rapidly increasing.  Large cooperative projects are being successfully implemented.

Opinions were exchanged on the regional and international agenda, and issues of ensuring the stable development of Central Asia were discussed.

It was noted that it is determined to continue the mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of multilateral structures.
