Mirziyoyev sends condolences to Xi Jinping over deadly floods

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his condolences to President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping over the numerous deaths, injuries, and significant damage caused by severe floods in Beijing and Hebei Province. The message was reported by Presidential Spokesperson Sherzod Asadov.

“The head of our state sent his condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured,” Asadov stated.

For reference, 30 people have died in the Chinese capital, Beijing, as a result of the heavy rains experienced in recent days. The fatalities occurred in the northern mountainous areas, with 28 deaths reported in Miyun District and 2 in Yanqing District. Due to the floods, 80,332 people were evacuated across the city. According to local authorities, the highest rainfall was recorded in Miyun, amounting to 543.4 millimeters.

The heavy rains also blocked 31 road sections and caused power outages in 136 villages. At 8:00 p.m. local time on July 28, the Beijing Municipal Flood Control Headquarters declared the highest level of emergency measures. Authorities strongly urged citizens to avoid areas with strong water currents.
