Mirziyoyev welcomes Scholz at Registan Square

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomed German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who is on an official visit to Uzbekistan, at Registan Square. This was reported by the President's press service.

During the visit, President Mirziyoyev and Chancellor Scholz toured the historical monuments at Registan Square.

Chancellor Scholz, who arrived recently, was initially greeted at Samarkand airport by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojayev, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov, and other officials.

The visit will focus on further strengthening bilateral relations, with discussions expected to cover economic, political, and other issues. The main events of the summit will be held at the Congress Center in Samarkand.

For context, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Olaf Scholz during his visit to Germany in May 2023. Additionally, the first summit of Central Asian leaders and Germany was held in Berlin in September 2023, chaired by Scholz.
