Uzbek President welcomed in Malaysia with honor guard

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Malaysia on an official visit today, February 4, at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The Presidential Press Service reported this.

Upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the Uzbek leader was welcomed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Malaysian Parliament Johari bin Abdul, Minister of Education Zambri Abdulkadir, and other officials. An honor guard was formed in honor of his visit, and the national flags of Uzbekistan and Malaysia were raised.

At the airport, President Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament. The discussion focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies, promoting parliamentary exchanges, organizing mutual visits of friendship groups, and fostering collaboration in lawmaking. The parties also emphasized the importance of joint efforts in implementing investment, infrastructure, social, and cultural-humanitarian projects.

The main events of the visit are scheduled for tomorrow, February 5. President Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will hold high-level talks and participate in the Uzbekistan-Malaysia business forum. After the summit, several intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements are expected to be signed.
