Mirziyoyev congratulates Lukashenko

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation today, August 30, with Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, the Presidential press service reported.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly congratulated Alexander Lukashenko on his birthday, wishing him good health, happiness, success, as well as peace and prosperity to the friendly people of Belarus.

In turn, Alexander Lukashenko sincerely congratulated the leader of Uzbekistan and the multinational people of the country on the upcoming Independence Day, extending wishes of sustainable development and progress.

The parties also discussed the expansion of multifaceted Uzbekistan–Belarus partnership relations within the framework of the agreements reached during Lukashenko’s visit to Uzbekistan in February last year. It was noted with satisfaction that dialogue and exchanges at various levels have been fruitful. Reportedly, trade turnover has increased by 30 percent since the beginning of the year.

"The cooperation projects involving leading enterprises in agriculture, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, textiles, and other sectors are being implemented. Inter-parliamentary, business, and cultural-humanitarian relations are also actively developing", the report stated.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Alexander Lukashenko also reviewed the schedule of upcoming bilateral meetings and events.

It is worth noting that Alexander Lukashenko was born in 1954. Today, August 30, he turns 71. Lukashenko has been leading Belarus since July 1994.
