On February 27, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented Marius Vizer, the President of the International Judo Federation (IJF), with the country's highest state award—the Order of Friendship. The presidential press service reported this recognition for Vizer’s significant contribution to the development of Uzbekistan’s national judo school.

Marius Vizer is currently in Uzbekistan for the prestigious "Grand Slam" international tournament. During his visit, discussions focused on expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IJF, strengthening judo programs, and promoting the sport across the country.

“Uzbekistan has been actively engaging with the IJF, successfully hosting the 2022 World Judo Championship and last year’s World Championship among military personnel. Additionally, Diyora Keldiyorova made history by winning Uzbekistan’s first-ever judo gold medal at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris,” the report stated.

Vizer praised Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms to promote a healthy lifestyle and its investments in sports infrastructure, particularly efforts to involve youth and women in judo.

Discussions also emphasized enhancing technical and expert assistance for training athletes, coaches, and referees, as well as establishing an effective talent selection system. A proposal was also made to regularly host international judo competitions across various regions of Uzbekistan.
